• "Almost simultaneously with the treatment of the family in the second volume of the Prodromus systematis naturalis regni vegetabilis, published in November 1825. De Candolle had previously published the diagnoses of 14 new genera and 52 new species in the Annales des sciences naturelles 4:90-103 (January 1825). The latter publication was intended to safeguard priority for his new names, and the Mémoires provided an explanation of the reasons underlying the classification adapted in the Prodromus." --Taxonomic literature (2nd ed.), volume 1, page 449 (number 1001)
