- Summary
- Samuel Joseph May repeats his desire that William Lloyd Garrison, Helen Garrison, and Fanny Garrison should pay the Mays a visit in Syracuse, and adds that he had just received a note from Gerrit Smith stating that he and his wife were hoping to receive a visit from the Garrisons in Peterboro. May informs Garrison that he has learned from his daughter Charlotte that she and her children will prolong their stay in New England, and inquires if Garrison can make good on his promised visit prior to their arrival in mid-October. May mentions that he is composing this letter upon spare copies of a circular calling a meeting of the Auxiliary Freedman's Relief Association in Syracuse, and adds that he is devoting a great deal of time and effort in the "great enterprise of educating the poor victims of Slavery". May offers his wish to see the Liberator and the Standard more routinely
