- Asa F. Canterbury was born in Botetourt County, Va. in 1788 and died in Fancy Creek Township, Sagamon County, Ill. in 1856. In 1809, he married Margaret "Peggy" Hornback (b. 1793), daughter of Abraham Hornback and Elizabeth Trumbo. Asa and Peggy had 11 children: Isaac T., Mariah Owens, Carlisle Harrison, Valentine, John Tecumseh, Eliza Jane, Oliver A. (or Perry), Martha Ann, Margaret, Abraham B. and Juliann. Valentine died at 17 yrs. of age and Abraham B. died just before his 14th birthday. The family lived in Kentucky, Ohio and Illinois. Their descendants include Canterbury, Alkire, Harness, Hornback, Morgan and related families
