- Boston Public Library (Rare Books Department) copy quarterbound in black goatskin and papier tourniquet. The title is stamped in gilt at the head of the spine. The bookplate of the BPL, dated Oct. 27, 1879 is present on the front pastedown. The autograph of Nathaniel Clark Gilman is present at the head of the title page and an early gift inscription reading, "Fra: Layton ex dono Tho: Layton" is present above the imprint line. The embossed stamp of the library is present on the title page and on the first page of text. Minor pen trials are present throughout and early manuscript additions are present within the index. The upper portion of 2R6 has been excised and replaced with a blank slip. Based on a pencil inscription on the title page verso, this book was purchased from the auction of Caleb Cushing's library in October, 1879.
