- George Russell has included the list of names, along with the addition of two more names, that he promised to Mrs. Maria Weston Chapman and which he had in his vest pocket when he called at her house. Miss Mary C. Whitman (the last name on the list) is not yet a "thorough-going" abolitionist. Miss Whitman is doubtful whether many signatures can be obtained to the petitions.
