- Summary
- John P. Cowles writes to Amos A. Phelps regarding the confusion concerning whether or not Asa Mahan is invited to go to Boston. Cowles says he has been taking ground against the notion of Asa Mahan and Charles Finney, and as a result of this, in combination with other opinions he has held (regarding the course of classical curriculum of the college, and the Education Society), he was forced to resign from his teaching position at Oberlin College, although inefficiency was the reason given to him. He discusses his plan for defense
