- George Jeffrey Tillotson writes to Amos A. Phelps about his meetings with pastors in Litchfield County, Connecticut, stating he "induced most of them to present the cause to their peo[ple], & have myself preached & taken up subscriptions in more than a dozen congregations." He shares news of a classmate, "James Smith of Glastonbury," who "is getting to be a great man." Tillotson tells Phelps he can loan him 400 dollars and said that Phelp's mother assured him this amount "would probably answer t[he] purpose. He also gives Phelps directions to Brooklyn in case Phelps would like to come pick up the loan
