Summary

George Thompson assures William Lloyd Garrison that in spite of his long silence, he holds Garrison in "brotherly affection", and has received Garrisons communications with "deep gratitude". Thompson confides that he feels his health fast failing, and opines that this note is likely the last communication Garrison shall receive from him. Thompson asks for Garrison's forgiveness for "all that has been unworthy" on his part, and wishes him a "serene and happy" end. Thompson states his hopes that he will be remembered by his friends, and that the United States may "advance in prosperity", especially as concerns "moral improvement"
