The two editions are primarily differentiated by the typographical peculiarities on their respective title pages. - Boston Public Library (Rare Books Department) copy bound in early limp vellum double-panelled in gilt with floral tooled centerpieces. The spine is panelled and tooled in gilt and all text block edges are gilt. A partially legible inscription in an early hand at the head of the title page verso reads, "The Kings of[?] England." Thomas Pennant Barton purchased this copy from the Benjamin Heywood Bright sale in 1845. The armorial bookplate of the Barton Library is present on the front pastedown. This copy presents the typographical peculiarities that Bartlett ascribes to the first of the two 1598 Richard II quartos.
