The old testament was printed at the English college at Douai and issued in two volumes from 1609 to 1610. Taken together, these three volumes represent the first Catholic bible printed in English

- Boston Public Library (Rare Books Department) copy bound in early, gold-blocked calf with the initials "H.D." stamped in gilt. The spine is rebacked in modern, brown morocco with the title stamped in gilt. The bookplate of the BPL Townsend fund, dated Sept. 3, 1878, is present on the front pastedown and the autograph of "W.G. Medlicott, Longmeadow, Mass.," is present on the front flyleaf recto. The embossed stamp of the Library is present on the title page and in various places throughout. On the verso of the rear free endpaper is a pencil inscription, signed with the initial "H" regarding a previous purchase of the same title from Sotheby's in July of 1854.
