Front pastedown includes donors' ex libris (bookplate) identifying copy as a gift of Joshua Bates, received September 15, 1859. Title page includes embossed stamp of the Boston Public Library. Printed on antique laid papers featuring horizontal chainlines, vertical wire lines, and watermark visible at head-/spine-edge of page. Rear pastedown includes affixed label of the Boston Public Library, dated "Nov., 1891", concerning circulation regulations, along with with an ink stamp of the Boston Public Library Bindery dated "MAY 11 1892".
