Summary
Peabody says his "responsibility for the [Christian] Register is necessarily very limited." He and Reverend John Hopkins Morison agreed that an article sent by Samuel May ought to be suppressed because it would put May in a "worse position than he occupied before." The article referred to an issue of "The Christian Register" that appeared in two versions, one of which omitted an article by Reverend John Parkman. Peabody and Morison both deny the truth of Reverend May's charges, but do not explain the absence of the Parkman article from one of the two versions of the newspaper
