Summary
Charles Turner Torrey writes to Amos A. Phelps stating, "The die is cast and I yesterday announced to my people my determination to leave Salem immediately." Torrey says he wants to attend the "National Convention next week but if I go, it must be as the agent of your (our) or of the American Society." He then asks Phelps to convene a special meeting of his committee to appoint Torrey as agent. He then discusses which agents of their society should be responsible for which Massachusetts counties and proposes a salary of "$1000 & expenses per annum."
