- Caroline Weston gives current news. A young man named Josiah Wolcott offered his services to make all the mottos (for the anti-slavery fair). Caroline carried a copy of "the fair puff" to the Liberator; it is to be used also for the Standard. Wendell Phillips "hooked an Emancipator Extra which these rascals are trying to keep quiet." This issue contains a statement "of how dreadfully in debt they are," with the names of agents, etc. Caroline copies figures and quotes from the article, which is by I.W. Alden. Lucia Weston is to send certain pictures for the book table. Caroline writes that "the universe is turning over to get [David Lee] Child on to Washington," as an anti-slavery reporter when the Latimer case comes before Congress. John A. Collins has invited "all the Weymouth people" to his wedding. "Brother [Samuel J.?] May cannot come to marry Collins." Garrison has the worst kind of scarlet fever; Emily Farwell is taking care of him
