  • Jean de Laon's allegorical device on t.p. On t.p. verso is woodcut port. of James VI of Scotland, to whom the work is dedicated. The ports. appear in the oval openings of decorative surrounds. Some of the openings are empty, the subject's name in letterpress being substituted for the missing port. The 44 emblems appear in rectangular decorative surrounds, one to a page, followed by explanatory Latin couplets (2K3v-2Q1r). Headpieces, decorated initials

On 3rd front free endpaper recto is inscription with signature of M. Tydeman. At foot of t.p. is signature: ?Noel Baudouyn.
